Hurt So Good Fitness

After being a client of Lizz’s for quite a number of years, the goal was always to lose weight and get healthier. But as we all know, that’s not the easiest thing in the world, and sometimes we can’t seem to get out of our own way—I’ll be the first to admit that. The one thing that changed it all for me was the Spring Cleaning Diet, and not even on the first attempt.

Before I get into that, I want to give a little background on myself and why I’m working so hard. Since I was a child, all I’ve wanted to do was work in law enforcement. I’ve done everything I could up until this point to get there, but it has always been the fitness test that stopped me, as I’ve been overweight almost my entire life. I’ve attempted and failed the test time and time again, but I finally managed to get a civilian job in the agency I want to work for. Lizz has been training me to pass this test so that I can transfer after my probation and attend the police academy, which I’ll be eligible for in six months.

After getting into good eating habits and making progress, I always ended up backsliding and falling into bad habits—cheating a bit too much and losing sight of the vision. That’s exactly what happened the first time I participated in the Spring Cleaning Diet, which was a challenge among clients. I came in second but sadly gained all the weight back. This time, I saw the clock ticking and refused to let time pass while I sat idly by and fell into my own self-sabotage. I took it upon myself to go through the Spring Cleaning Diet again on my own and achieved shocking results—and I haven’t looked back since.

I followed Lizz’s guidance by adding calories back little by little so as not to shock my system and to build up gradually. Not only have I kept off the 30 pounds I’ve lost since April, but I’m continuing to lose weight. I’ve also paired that with about 6–9 hours a week in the gym, which is much more than I’ve ever done before. I think it’s also important to note that when I first came to Lizz, I weighed 335 pounds at my heaviest, which I thought was almost impossible to come back from. I now weigh 254. I promise you, just when you think you want to give up is when you’re doing the most good for yourself. Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Stick to the course, trust the process, and you will get where you want to be.

After the three weeks on the Spring Cleaning Diet, I made slight adjustments to add in more calories. For meal one, I added real eggs back in. For meals two and three, I increased the meat content by two ounces each and increased the vegetables from a half cup to a full cup. Then I added a half cup of brown rice to each meal and later increased it to a full cup. Each of these changes occurred one week apart until I arrived at the final product. There was no overthinking involved—it was very simple. I also enjoy changing out the vegetables and fruits for some variety.
